A fish fry will be held at the First United Methodist Church, second and East Walnut, Thursday, April 27, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $6 for adults and $3.50 for children 6-12. Children under six eat for free. Take-outs will be available.

There will be a work day at Center Ridge Cemetery on Saturday, April 8, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Take your tools and a lunch.

A gospel concert featuring the Peters Family will be held Saturday, April 8, at 7:00 p.m. at Hammonds Chapel Baptist Church on Kansas Road near Gurdon. Everyone is invited.

Kevin R. and Wendy L. Nolen of Gurdon announce the birth of their son, Trent Micheal, born Tuesday, March 28, 2000. He weighed five pounds and 12 ounces.

Trent is the grandson of Robert and Nikki Schee of Whelen Springs, Charles and Esther Nolen of Delight and Jimmy Thrasher of Gurdon. He is the great grandson of Dorothy Nilz and Junior and Esther Thrasher, all of Gurdon.

Voter registration forms can be picked up at the Gurdon Municipal building in the treasurer's office for people who are not registered to vote. Voters must be registered by April 24 in order to be eligible to vote in the May 23 primary.

United States Census 2000 is looking for part-time workers. Tests will be given every Wednesday, at the Hoo-Hoo International building at 207 Main Street beginning at 1:30 p.m. Two forms of identification are needed. For more information call 246-0519.

David L. Cook, a Christian singer/songwriter, will be in concert at First Assembly of God April 9 at 6:00 p.m. Rev. Cook utilizes drama and is nationally known and honored. Call 353-2804 if more information is needed. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will be holding sessions on April 6 and 20 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Gurdon Municipal Building. For more information or for an appointment call 353-2514.

The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club meets every second Thursday of each month at the Gurdon Municipal building beginning at 10:00 a.m. Any interested person is welcome to attend.

Oak Grove Community Church continues to hold Sunday services at 10:00 a.m. through 12:00 noon. Tommy Parker and Homer Easley, evangelists, will preach until the return of their pastor, Rev. Charles Easley. Everyone is welcomed to attend.

An international food bazaar will be held at the Garrison Student Center on Friday, April 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $3 for children under 10. Call 230-5265 for more information.

Try opera. Bill Higgins will be directing the one act, Jianni Schicchi by Punccini Monday April 10 and11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Russell Fine Arts recital hall. Tickets cost $4 for adults and $3 for students. For information call 230-5019.

An adult team spelling bee will be held Friday, April 14, at Prescott Elementary School starting at 7:00 p.m. Team entry deadline is April 7. For more details call 887-5536.

A statewide golf tournament will be held April 10 at Harbor Oaks in Pine Bluff to benefit the Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranches. For information call Sharon Knight at 870-793-6841.

Rhonda L. Williams, Clark County Clerk, encourages any registered voter who has moved within Clark County and has not contacted the county clerk's office to make an address change to do so by calling 246-4491.

Flea market at the Clark County Fairgrounds will be held May 6. It is sponsored by the Extension Homemakers Clubs. Inside and outside booths are now available, call 353-2616 or 246-7845 for information on booth rentals.

The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather.

Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
