Student Honored By Writting Letter To AuthorPublished Wednesday, March 29, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneKelsey Hopkins, a fifth grader at McRae Middle School, recently received a letter from the office of the Arkansas State Library congratulating her on her excellent writing skills. Her fifth grade reading class had participated in the 2000 Letters About Literature contest. This was a national contest sponsored by Kings College in Pennsylvania. The students wrote to authors expressing why their book had changed their life and given them wings. Comments from the writers of the letter were: "We want you to know how impressed we were with your writing skills and your ability to express yourself in a thoughtful, well-organized manner. We were touched by your comments, and found your choice of author and book quite compelling. We hope that reading continues to be a joy for you throughout your life and that you continue to tell others about books you have read and authors who have changed your life and given you wings!" Kelsey's reading teacher is Linda Formby. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
