Two Arrested By Prescott PoliceBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, March 29, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Prescott Police arrested two men on battery charges. Michael Evans, 30, of Prescott, was arrested Sunday, March 26, and charged with domestic battery for the third time. According to reports from the Prescott Police Department, the call came in around 2 p.m., with officers sent to 247 East 4th North Street. Evans and his wife, Shaquita, had been involved in a disturbance and officers saw she had swelling under her left eye when they arrived. She said Evans had hit her, which led to his arrest. He is being held in the Nevada County Jail. The other battery call also occurred Sunday but at 1:15 a.m. Reports state the battery took place at the National Guard Armory with the victim, Chanda Zackery, having scratches on her neck and lip. According to the report, Zackery and a friend, Latonya Wilson, pulled into the armory parking lot to talk with some people. Zackery told officers the suspect waled up to her car and began calling her offensive names. He told her, according to the report, he would pull her out of the car.
