Nevada County Picayune and Gurdon Times Newspaper Archive |
Golden OldiesDORIS VANCEPublished Wednesday, March 29, 2000 in the Gurdon Times The senior adults enjoyed their trip to Glenwood last Thursday. We had a beautiful display of quilts and Afghans. Most of them were quilted or crocheted by the center ladies. My Afghan was made by my daughter, Shirley White, of South Bend, Ind. We are still quilting, but there are not as many of us as there used to be. However, we manage to get the job done. This week we will play bingo, have our monthly council meeting, dine out and hold a group singing. We will also have our garden club, where everyone will exchange plants. The birthday party for this month will be on Friday. Our prayers are with those who are unable to join us because of sickness. We hope they will soon be back with us. Our activity director, Martha Bearden, is working on activities for April. We appreciate her very much. We would love to have more visitors. If a person comes once they will want to come again. You can visit with your friends, take part in the activities and enjoy a good, hot meal. The center is a program of Central Arkansas Development Council and a United Way agency.
