Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.

Mom's In Touch prayer group meets every Tuesday at 9 a.m. at First Baptist Church.

A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse on Thursday, June 24.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind checks. To find out if you are eligible, call 1- 800-772-1213.

Commodities will be issued on June 24 at the Senior Citizens Center in Prescott. Your card must be re-evaluated before commodities can be received.

The time is near to be thinking about entering the Nevada County Fair Queen pageant. The ages are two through 21. The date has been moved up this year to September 2 and 4. Entry forms, along with rules and information, will be available June 1.

The Chamber of Commerce has free plastic litter bags for your car or truck. These bags are from Keep Arkansas Beautiful and Nevada County. You may pick them up at 116 East Second.

Area Agency on Aging of Southwest Arkansas has scheduled a public hearing for Wednesday, May 26, in the Prescott Senior Citizens Center at 304 East Vine beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The area plan for community-based aging services and budget allocations for services for operating year 1999-2000 will be reviewed. The plan covers services funded by the Older Americans Act and related federal and state revenues in 12 southwest Arkansas counties for the period of July 1 through June 30, 2000. Comments and questions from the public are invited.

If your child will have his/her third or fourth birthday before September 15, or will have a fifth birthday after September 15, then you could receive free teaching materials to prepare your child for school. This offer is made through HIPPY.

Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District will hold a meeting of the board of directors Wednesday, June 9, in the district board room at 600 Bessie Street in Magnolia. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Emmet Baptist Church will its vacation Bible school June 7-11 from 6 to 8. All children ages 3 to teenager are invited to have fun and study 'Crossroads in Time.'

A community meeting will be held Tuesday, June 15, at 6:30 p.m. at Fairview Methodist Church to let the community know how things are coming along on the Fairhills Rural Fire Department. If you have not paid your yearly dues and are interested in helping with this, you need to attend.

Annual choir day will be held June 13 at New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church at 113 East Elm.

Special guests will be Deliverance Temple COGIC of, Texarkana, Texas, whose pastor, Elder Phillip Simmons, will bring the message. Featured will be the Faith Singers of Faith Temple COGIC The message will be brought by Elder Phillip Simmons, pastor. Also featured will be the Faith Singers of Faith Temple CIGIC. Services will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday. Dinner will follow at Maxine's Diner.

The 53rd annual McSweeny reunion will be at the former Chuck Wagon caf in Emmet Saturday, June 12.

Potluck will be at noon. All friends and family are invited.
