Fort Making Trip To GermanyPublished Wednesday, March 29, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesEddie Fort Jr., a sophomore at Gurdon High School, has been chosen to travel to Germany with People to People Sports Ambassadors (PPSA), a unique international event founded by former President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower. As an ambassador representing the United States while traveling with PPSA, Fort will have the opportunity to participate in a football tournament, explore the country of Germany and sample its culture. Fort will travel to Germany in June for ten days. The Power Ninety-two Jamers will be playing in Gurdon May 20 to help raise the $3,500 in costs for the program. Other fund-raisers will be taking place, also. An account has been set up for Fort at Firstar Bank in Arkadelphia and Gurdon. All donations are tax deductible. Fort, 15, is the son of Eddie and Clara Fort of Okolona. He is active in several extracurricular activities. Fort was named offensive and defensive player of the week during the Go-Devil's 1999-2000 season. He is an active member of St. Clair Baptist Church of Burtsell.
