Spring Cleaning Urged - Curbside Service For Junk Is April 10-15Published Wednesday, March 29, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesIt's time once again for spring cleaning in Gurdon. The city will be holding its semi-annual household junk curbside pickup April 10-15 this year. All items must be placed at curbside to be picked up, and it must be accessible to the street. Those with items to be picked up should call the Gurdon City Hall at 353-2514 before 1 p.m. for pickup on the same day. No calls will be accepted after 1 o'clock Saturday, April 15. People living outside the city limits wanting to bring their junk in can drop it off at the city's collection point on Joselyn Street during business hours. No household garbage will be accepted during this drive, and no bagged items will be picked up. The city's crews will pick up appliances, furniture, old building materials and household junk. Limbs cut in a maximum of four-feet long will also be picked up. But the city will not pick up limbs cut by commercial haulers. This is done to help city residents get rid of things not normally picked up during weekly garbage collections. For more information call Mayor Rick Smith at 353-2514.
