Chamber Banquet Is Monday Night

Gurdon's Chamber of Commerce Banquet is rapidly approaching.

The banquet will be held Monday, April 3, at the Gurdon High School cafetorium. It will begin at 7 p.m. with tickets costing $12.50.

Matt Mosler, weatherman for KATV Channel 7, will be the featured speaker.

Other highlights of the banquet will include the naming of Citizen of the Year and Teacher of the Year.

Mosler, co-host of the popular early morning show "Daybreak", is a California native who graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in communication.

Before coming to Arkansas, he was the host and weather anchor for KXAN-TV in Austin, Texas.

He has also worked at WVUA-TV as a sports anchor and reporter while at Alabama.

Upon graduation Mosler served as a general assignment reporter and substitute weather anchor for WCFT-TV in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

He later moved to Jackson, Miss., where he became a co-host weather anchor and assistant producer for "A Mississippi Morning."

During his career, Mosler has amassed numerous awards including: the Mississippi Associated Press Association's 1990 best feature; and the Alabama Associated Press Association's 1988 investigative reporting and specialized reporting.

He is a frequent speaker across the state at such functions, having traveled for two years with a gospel quartet. Mosler has performed vocally for two governors.

He and his wife, Camille, live in Sherwood, with their three children, Travis, Madison and Rebecca.

Tickets to the banquet can be purchased at First State Bank of Gurdon, Firstar Bank of Gurdon or the Arkadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
