Walter SmithPublished Wednesday, March 22, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesWalter Smith, 85, of Okolona died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at his home. Mr. Smith was born May 23, 1914, in Garwood, Mo., the son of the late Buck and Alice Clayton Smith. He was a retired construction worker, a World War II Air Force veteran and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Jean Smith. Survivors include one son, Ray Smith and his wife Debbie of Okolona; one brother, Bill Smith of Richwoods community; and three grandchildren, Paul, Whitney and Nicole Smith. Graveside services were held Friday, March 17, at Hart's Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Glen Schultz officiating. Interment was under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
