RosstonPublished Wednesday, June 9, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneMarguerite Williams There has not been any news from Rosston for the past two weeks, because Roscoe and I have spent the most part of that time on the lake in Texarkana and Lake Greeson near Murfreesboro. We at Rosston extend sympathy to the family of Mary Kathryn Hoover. She passed away in Texarkana and the funeral was at Central Church Monday with burial in Rosston Cemetery. Bro. Junior and Mary Kathryn lived here at one time and he worked for Berry Petroleum at Waterloo. Our guests this weekend have been Roscoe's Uncle Terrell and Aunt Melba Chamberlain of Newton, Kan. They attended the Bodcaw School reunion on Saturday night at Nevada School. Other guests were Felts Chamberlain and daughter Pam of El Dorado and Jimmy and Booie Williams of Prescott, who ate lunch on Saturday. On Saturday Terell and Melva and Lairy and Brenda Hart ate with us. We took them to the cemetery to visit there parents' grave, to see their old home place and to visit with A.B. and Maxine Luck and to Prescott to see Mary Cross and Veneta Bustin. The Louie Dillard family celebrated his birthday (96, I believe) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Prescott and I visited with them for a few minutes. Please remember them in your prayers and also Mary Cross and her family. Frank, Jackie and Todd Cross are enjoying the two little girls from Florida. They will be with them for two months. They are just precious. We regret that Jeff and Denise Hunt's mobile home caught fire this week and destroyed two rooms and a closet. It was new and they had it fixed up so pretty. They need our prayers while they are trying to get things settled. The youth of our church had a fish fry on Saturday night. Thanks to Bob Gresham for donating all the nice catfish that he had caught in Columbia Lake. The meal was great and they did good on sales. Thanks to everyone who helped. They will leave Friday for Eureka Springs to see the Passion Play and tour the Holy Land. Remember them in your prayers. Joey and Ella Wallace vacationed the past week in San Antonio and report a wonderful time. They are expecting a baby and so are our pastor and his wife, Bro. Petie, Laura and P.J. Ward (another boy). Congratulations to these two couples. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
