Tri-Service Junk Drive Is This Weekend

Got some junk to get rid of? Don't throw it away and have it wind up in a landfill.

Instead give it to the Tri-Service Club of Prescott. For the second year in a row, the Tri-Service Club is collecting junk to raise funds to help Prescott Elementary School and McRae Middle School students.

The junk drive will be held Friday and Saturday, March 17-18, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.

Linda Vansickle, a member of the club, asks that no furniture or anything with an electrical cord be brought to the drive.

Donations need to be brought to the Prescott National Guard Armory on West Gee Street, behind the DeAnn Cemetery.

All items collected will be resold to the ARC in Little Rock. This non-profit organization, Vansickle said, will pay for the junk donated.

The proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase playground equipment for Prescott Elementary School, and sound equipment for McRae Middle School.

Vansickle said the 8th grade musical, "The Cinderella Shoe Project," will be presented April 12-14, under the direction of Shay Farris.

However, she added, the school is in need of new sound equipment for this, and future, performances.

Vansickle also said anyone who has items leftover from a yard or garage sale can bring them to the armory as well.
