Maude Bryan StephensPublished Wednesday, March 15, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesMaude Bryan Stephens, 101, died in Magnolia Hospital Tuesday, March 7, 2000. Mrs. Stephens was a lifelong resident of Gurdon. She was a talented musician, having played the piano and organ for many organizations and activities during her lifetime. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gurdon and many civic clubs. In later years she was a nurse at the Gurdon Hospital. Her husband, Vernon C. Stephens; a son, Rev. Bryan Stephens; twin daughters Jean Hasley and Ann McCroskey; and three great grandchildren preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Robert W. Stephens of Arkadelphia, nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Graveside services were held Friday, March 10, at Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon under the direction of Horne Funeral Home in Gurdon.
