After a slow 0-2 start the Gurdon Go-Devil baseball team has come alive, winning five straight.

The Devils dropped the season opener 12-2 to a seasoned Bismarck squad.

The Lions posted four in the bottom of the first, added four more in the second and finished with another four in the fourth.

Gurdon's two runs came in the top of the fifth with Crain and White scoring.

The Devils then went on the road to Junction City where the Dragons handed them a 10-2 loss in the seven-inning outing.

The Devils managed to push a run across in the top of the second, and another one in the seventh.

Junction City, a perennial power, was held in check until the third, when the Dragons scored five runs. They added a pair in the fifth and three in the sixth to seal the win.

Gurdon got on the winning track Thursday, March 2, when the Devils hosted Prescott and handed the Wolves an 8-4 loss.

After going down in order in the bottom of the first, Gurdon got on the board in the second with a Colby Pace homer.

Pace drove in Brandon Gattis in the bottom of the fourth with his second round-tripper of the game, while the Devils added two more in the frame.

For good measure, Gurdon scored three times in the fifth.

The Wolves managed runs in the top of the third and fifth innings.

This was a tuneup for the Prescott Classic as the Devils took it to Prescott, Nevada and Lockesburg to capture the crown.

With the bats fully warmed up, Gurdon hosted Lewisville and torched the Red Devils 22-3 in four innings.

Gattis walked to open the game, moving to second when McElhannon walked. Crain got on board with a free pass to load the bases, with Pace reaching on an error to score Gattis.

Plyler sacrificed McElhannon in, with Adam Gooding getting hit by a pitch to load the bases once again. Reed went deep to empty the bags, with Griffin walking.

Gattis, in his second at-bat of the inning, singles Griffin in. Crain and Pace singled, scoring on an error to White.

The Devils led 11-0 at the end of one.

Lewisville should have let the game be called at this point as it only got worse.

The Red Devils went down in order the first three innings, scoring three times in the top of the fourth.

Gurdon's second was pretty much a repeat of the first as the Devils pushed nine more across to go up 20-0.

Gooding was hit by a pitch, while Reed walked. Griffin was also hit to load the bases. A double by Gattis scored three.

Crain walked before Pace took one out of the park for his third homer of the season.

Griffin, House and Stroud walked to load the bags again, with the trio scoring when Reed walked, and Haak was hit by a pitch.

Scoring in the game ended for the Devils with Gurdon adding two in the third.

The Blue Jays were victimized by the Devils Thursday, March 9, as Gurdon pounded Nevada 19-1.

The Jays scored in the bottom of the first and were held in check for the rest of the game.

Meanwhile, Gurdon's offensive juggernaut was locked and loaded.

McElhannon walked but was nailed at second when Crain hit into a fielder's choice. Pace doubled, driving Crain in, and scored when Joe Plyler reached on an error in the first.

Stroud and Griffin singled to get the second underway for the Devils. Stroud scored on a Gattis single, while McElhannon's triple brought in Griffin and Gattis. McElhannon scored on an error at second.

Gurdon held a 6-1 lead at this point.

In the third, the Devils added two runs to go up 8-1.

Plyler walked to get things started. White followed with a walk as did Reed.

Stroud hit into a fielder's choice, with Plyler caught at home. Griffin reached on an error at first, scoring White and Reed.

Eight runners circled the bases in the fourth to put the game on ice and give Gurdon a 16-1 lead.

Pace opened the inning with a single, advancing to second on a balk. However, Plyler walked to make the balk moot.

White went down swinging before Reed doubled Pace and Plyler in.

Stroud then walked and Griffin reached on an error.

Pace, in his second at-bat of the frame, singled them in and scored on Plyler's single.

Three more runs crossed home in the top of the fifth.

Reed reached on an error, with Gooding walking. Griffin flied out to first leaving the runners where they were.

Gattis grounded to first, but McElhannon walked to load the bases. Crain singles Reed in, while Pace's double brought in Gooding and McElhannon.
