CMS Classy MomentsCabe Middle School StaffPublished Wednesday, March 15, 2000 in the Gurdon Times The students of Cabe Middle School really enjoyed the basketball games sponsored by the junior high cheerleaders. Talent from grades five through eight were made known. Wow, there were great unbelievable plays, and some baskets that just looked impossible to make. Good games, students. The fans cannot be omitted. During the games, the students were cheering for their grades and giving those players the needed motivation to make them play extremely well. The workers in the concession stand were probably ready to go into early retirement as they were busy taking care of the orders from the students. Mrs. Clark had an extra special treat and big surprise to help celebrate her birthday March 7. Mrs. Clark's mother-in-law, Winnie Clark, was in a classroom to avoid being seen as she sang Happy Birthday to her daughter-in-law. It was a very special song, as Winnie had written it just for the special occasion. The intercom was on so that everyone could enjoy the entertainment. A big birthday cake was in the teacher's lounge so each could have a part of helping Mrs. Clark celebrate her big day. It was so good. As usual for this time of the year, excitement is in the air. Can you guess why? Need a hint? Cheerleaders, yes! It was time to make the decision as to whether or not you wanted to try out for cheerleader for the next school year. Forty-two signed up. That's correct, 42 students have shown interest in the challenge. Grade points will be checked to make certain of eligibility. The big day will be March 31, when the tryouts will be held. Good luck. Thursday, March 16, parent-teacher conferences will be conducted from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. We are looking forward for the opportunity to meet with the parents. Members of the track teams have attended one meet. They seemed to be surprised by the late hour in which they returned home. We are looking forward to spring break beginning Monday, March 20. We return to classes on Monday, March 27. Several trips to Florida, Texas, Missouri and other states are being planned. We just want everyone to return safely. We are always busy, as you know, making those Classy Moments. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
