Helping Hands EHC

Published Wednesday, March 8, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune

The Bluff City Helping Hands Extension Homemakers Club met February 11 at the home of Doris Barlow. The meeting was called to order by Marguerite Tomlin, president.

There were 15 members present and two visitors, Judy Goss and Doris Ann and her daughter and granddaughter.

There was no old business. New business was to elect three new members to the service committee.

The club's regular program for February was postponed to a later date.

Doris Barham was gracious enough to invite the club into her home to see and try their hands on her quilting machine. She and Judy had a quilt ready to work on. Everyone who wanted to try their hand had the opportunity. Most everyone tried their hands at quilting one block. It was very interesting.

The club appreciates Doris and Judy very much and thank them for a special effort to help us learn to quilt.

This was Valentine's time and excitement was in the air. Everyone came in with a brown paper bag. Secret pals were trying to figure out who their secret pals were. It sure is hard to do after the bags are all piled together; you forget which one was brought by whom. It is a lot of fun, though, and it was enjoyed by all.

The meeting was adjourned.

Refreshments were served by Doris Barlow and Judy Goss. Linda Carman brought cake and Oleta Nelson brought a plate of cookies. Everything was delicious; the club omitted counted calories.
