Oak GroveLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, March 8, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune We are having a lot of sickness around here and a lot of deaths. Syble Pete' Dockery's funeral was held at Clevet Spring Baptist Church in Falcon Friday, March 3 with Rev. Phil Sharp officiating. He was a very good Christian man. My niece, Helen Jenkins, came with Normie Lee Moss's daughter from Dallas, Texas, for the funeral. I went to his funeral and got to see a lot of people who I used to work with at Stamps, Buckner and Lewisville. I sure did enjoy those 14 years for working with the old people. Third Sunday in March is Women's Day program at Cana AME Church. Girtie Blake is still in the rehab in Hope. Let's continue to pray for her. Vira Jean Martin sent us a delicious cake by her daughter. It just melted in your mouth, because it was so good. People have been very nice to us. Serving God will pay off after a while. Janet Smith and son went to her brother-in-law's funeral, Elijah Coleman in Pine Bluff. He was known all over Arkansas. He was a very good man and a very smart man. My husband's pastor, Rev. Bobby Young and his wife, visited him Sunday afternoon. He is the pastor at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
