Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellow-ship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse Thursday, March 23.

Supplemental security income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213.

The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce is seeking ideas and items to put into the millennium time capsule.

This box will be placed in the mini-park that is being developed on the former Sterling Store lot at the corner of Main and West First Streets. It will be buried in early summer.

The box will be opened in 100 years.

If your child will have his or her third or fourth birthday before September 15, then HIPPY (Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters) would like to make you an offer you will not want to refuse.

You may receive free teaching materials to prepare your child for school.

Arkansas Public Employees Retirement Systems (APERS) will be bringing a retirement seminar to the Hope area on March 30 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Fair Park Community Center, Park Drive in Hope.

This seminar is for state, county, municipal and school employees who are members of APERS. The seminar will include a speaker from APERS, as well as representatives from Social Security Administration, state and public school employees insurance and estate planning.

Friendship Cemetery in McCaskill will have a clean-up day on March 18, beginning at 10 a.m.

If you have loved ones buried there, plan to attend. Take shovels, leaf rakes and wheelbarrows.

If the weather is rainy, it will be held the following Saturday at the same time.

There will be a meeting of the Southwest Arkansas Workforce Investment Board at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 10, at Western Sizzlin in Hope. All interested individuals are invited to attend. Respond promptly by calling Gina Frederick at 870-234-4030.

Gold City Quartet is scheduled to present a concert Sunday, March 19, at 6 p.m. at Garrett Memorial Baptist Church in Hope. There is no admission fee.

The church is temporarily meeting in the Klipsch Auditorium, located at East Avenue B. and North Elm Street. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m. Seating is on a first come first serve basis.

The Tri-County Cow/Calf Clinic, sponsored by The University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service of Hempstead, Howard and Nevada Counties, will be held Tuesday, March 14 at 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hope Livestock Auction.

Topics will include: Industry Trends, matching cattle types to meet market demands (will include live cattle evaluations), adding value to your calves, performance testing.

Roger and Judy Wicker of Rosston are proud to announce the birth of their son, Gregory Elton, who was born Saturday, February 26, 2000.

He weighed 5 pounds and 5 ounces and was 18 inches long.

Grandparents are Sherman and Judy Thomas and Roger Wicker.

First Presbyterian Church of Prescott will have a light lunch and worship service on Ash Wednesday, March 8, beginning at noon.

Clay and Kristen Birdsong of Prescott are proud to announce the arrival of their third child, Kimber Rea, who was born Friday, February 11, 2000, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.

Kimber Rea weighed 6 pounds and 14 ounces. She was 19= inches long. Present at her birth was her father, Clay, and her big sister, Kayli. She was welcomed home by her big brother, Andrew.

Grandparents are C.C. and Meryl Sanford and Tommy and Annette Birdsong all of Prescott.
