RAPE ALLEGEDPublished Wednesday, June 9, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneA 16-year-old Prescott youth is being held in the Nevada County Jail on charges of burglary and rape. According to Wayne Kisselburg, criminal investigator for the Prescott Police Department and Nevada County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, June 3, at a home off Wildcat Road. The victim was reportedly watching television when she heard a noise and went to check on the front door. At this time, Tony Box kicked the door in, pushed the victim to the living room floor and began kissing her. When she asked what he was doing, the Box tied her up with wire and struck her several times. He then began fondling the victim and allegedly raped her. When he finished, he threatened to kill her if she reported the incident to the police. After Box left, the victim went to a neighbor's house and was taken to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, where the crime was reported. Kisselburg said the burglary charge was made because the suspect kicked the door in with the intent of committing another crime. Burglary is a class B felony, while rape is a class Y felony. A class Y felony carries a possible sentence of 10 to 40 years or life in prison. Box was also charged with terroristic threatening, a class A misdemeanor. He was charged as an adult and has his probation revoked. He was on probation for five counts of second degree battery, stemming from incidents earlier this year.
