College NewsPublished Wednesday, March 8, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesCaroline Curry, a first-year law student from Gurdon, has been named to the dean's honor roll at the University of Arkansas School of Law. Those named to the list have earned a grade average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale, on 12 hours of course study or more for the semester. The characters of Charles Shultz's popular comic strip Peanuts' will be brought to life on stage at Verser Theater at Ouachita Baptist University when the department of theater arts of the Bernice Young School of Fine Arts presents You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown March 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. and March 12 at 2:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend the family-oriented show that will be featured on the Verser stage for the first time. Elrod Center for Family and Community at Ouachita Baptist University is the sponsor of the university's fifth annual Marriage and Family Week on March 6-11, designed to help students develop healthy dating relationships, marriages and families. "We want students and faculty to consider ways to develop positive, healthy relationships especially concerning their families," said Ian Cosh, assistant to the president for community development. Various on and off campus speakers will be lecturing throughout the week. The public is invited to attend the on-campus programs, free of charge. The Office of Continuing EducationLifelong Learning at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia is offering a new class on bass fishing at the university and Lake DeGray Marina through April 1 from 9:00 a.m to 12:00 noon. In this introductory class, participants will be instructed in the basic skills needed for fishing. Beginning with the different types of fish and lures to catch them on, the class will be following up with the best places to find them. Instruction and practice on casting will be included as well as small fishing derby to conclude the course. All equipment is provided and parent child teams are encouraged.
