Rosston

This has been one of the saddest and busiest weeks that I believe most of us have ever had.

Ina Jarvis passed away in St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana. Funeral was at Rosston Baptist Church on Thursday morning. Bro. Jim Cross and Bro. Petie Ward officiated. Burial was in Rosston Cemetery. I fixed her hair for years and took painting lessons and did ceramics with her for nine years. Ina was a good church worker before she had the stroke that crippled her and she used to play the piano for the church. I loved her dearly. She will be missed by a host of friends as well as her family. We send sympathy to all of them.

Gerald Overton passed away in Prescott this week. He was a former Rosston boy. Funeral was Saturday in Prescott with burial at Caney. Sympathy goes out to this family also.

Audrey Fore of Whites Chapel passed away this weekend. Funeral was a graveside service at Holly Springs Cemetery Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Bro. Wayne Langston and Bro. Jerry Evans officiated. We don't understand these things, but we know they are much better off and some day we will understand. Roscoe worked with her husband, Herbert at Berry Petroleum for years. Sympathy to Herbert and their three sons and the rest of her family.

Paul Ridling of Magnolia passed away this week also. Funeral was Monday at 2:00 at Lewis Funeral Home with burial there. Paul's wife is Elverne Bailey, daughter of the late Alton and Ellen Bailey of Rosston. Roscoe and I visited with the family at the funeral home late Sunday afternoon. Rosston extends sympathy to this family.

Ruth Vinson had surgery at St. Michael in Texarkana on Wednesday. She came home Saturday. Roscoe and I visited with her a while on Saturday afternoon on our way to the funeral home in Hope. We wish her a speedy recovery. She has been missed in church as she has been out for weeks.

Roscoe and I had supper with my brother and wife, Billy and Minnie Ella Schmitt, of Hope on Saturday night.

Cindy Gresham had surgery Friday at Ouachita County Hospital in Camden. Roscoe and I sat with Bob, children and family during part of the surgery. She came home Sunday. Pray that she will soon be well and back in church.

We also visited Bill and Pat Lusby in Camden for a few hours and then had supper at the Ole Feed House in Camden that night with Doug and Rhonda (May) Morgan. Doug needs our prayers as he is under treatment of a doctor in Little Rock. He goes back March 14 for a final report.

Mona Dixon went to the Diagnostic Clinic in Little Rock this week. She goes back Friday for further tests. She needs our prayers.

We had lunch at Rosston Sunday after the morning services. The Roberts family of Kingsland, rendered two specials in song before the sermon and sang for an hour and a half that afternoon. They really blessed our hearts. Our crowd was off due to so many deaths and so much sickness.

Pray that God will bless us with a better week. We have about all run down.
