DeathsPublished Wednesday, March 1, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesMamie Inez McMillan Mamie Inez McMillan, 78, of Smackover, formerly of Gurdon, died Wednesday, February 23, 2000. She was the widow of Harry B. McMillan and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A son, Buck Downey, and a grandson, Todd Downey, also preceded her in death Survivors include two sons, Dennis Downey Sr. of Conway and Nick Downey of Gurdon; four daughters, Julia Anne Wolfe of Smackover, Najgy McPherson of Gurdon, Jeannette Neary of Haughton, La., and Linda Taggard of Arkadelphia; three brothers, Sam J. Williams and Herschel Williams both of El Dorado and Claude Williams of Smackover; 23 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel in Gurdon on February 26 with Dr. Jeddy LeVar officiating. Internment was in Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
