Classy MomentsPublished Wednesday, March 1, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesHow about this Arkansas weather? We have students wearing shorts, sweaters and heavy jackets, and not really knowing what is the most comfortable. One thing we do know, for which we are very grateful, having a building with central heat and air conditioning. My, but it is so nice. We remember how uncomfortable it was at the two other buildings we called the middle school. Goodness, we had the window unit air conditioners, and since they failed to do the job for some rooms, additional help with fans were also used trying to make it nice for everyone. We are trying to emphasize how important it is to take care of our school, and most of the students are really working hard to do their part in daily care of the building. We love to show off the building to visitors. Those seventh graders in social studies have been putting on a show. Each student had to present a 30-second commercial in front of their class. Two students working together had a 60- second commercial to present. The commercials were taped, so now they will be able to watch their performances. The students will be answering questions of which product would they buy and why? hopefully, to better understand 'supply and demand.' One thing for certain, they really performed as though an Oscar was out there for them. It was wonderful to see how much time the students put into preparing for their presentation. The book fair was a big success. Students were able to make purchases of various authors' works, posters, book marks and other items. A big thank you to Mrs. Jester for all of her work, extra time and patience she exhibited during the days of the book fair. Also, a big thank you to each of the students who helped make the book fair a success. To each of the readers, remember the 'Save the Pictures' fund at First State Bank in Gurdon. Money is still needed to make the purchases of the displays to preserve those historical pictures of former Gurdon graduates. Needless to say, we are certainly busy making those Classy Moments at CMS. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
