Oak GroveLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, February 23, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Black History program was held at Oak Grove Baptist Church Sun., Feb. 20. The theme was 'A Touch of Our Heritage.' Guest speaker was Dr. Maruie Lee Giles from Magnolia. She really did speak well. She has been all around the world. She is a wonderful woman and a very Christian person. Sympathy goes out to Mrs. Ola Hopson's family of Prescott. She was a very good person. Jessie Bailey was buried in Rockford, Ill., Friday. He was from Rosston. He was Tillmas Bailey's brother. My cousin, Leodis Christopher, from Louisiana stopped by to see me Thursday. I had not seen him in a year. I sure was glad to see him and his wife and granddaughter. I went to see Girtie B. Blake. She is doing find. She has been a very sick person. She still can't walk. George is not doing good lately. He is losing weight fast. I have my hands full. I don't have any help anymore. People who really need help can not get it. Henry Junior Staples is still in Louisiana with his sister, Girtie Mae Staples. Ira J. Tidwell and Artie Velt Tidwell is still on our sick list. They need our prayers.
