Tarpley To Participate In Theatrical Program At LyonPublished Wednesday, June 9, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesJohn Tarpley of Gurdon will be among 40 high school students from across the state heading to Lyons College in Batesville, in July to participate in a theatrical Academic Enrichment for the Gifted in the Summer (AEGIS) program titled 'Shakespeare: Page to Stage.' The residential program, which will run July 11-31, will be directed by Dr. Michael Counts, associate professor of theater at Lyon. The participants, Counts explained, "will study the plays of Williams Shakespeare, the music of the Elizabethan period, classical design and Shakespearean acting. They will rehearse selected scenes, design and hang lighting, design and build sets, costumes and present a final performance."
