Nevada Student Charged With Trying To Sell DrugsBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, February 23, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune A 17-year-old Nevada High School student has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. According to Wayne Kisselburg, criminal investigator with the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, the student allegedly tried to sell two tablets of Ritalin, a schedule II narcotic, ane one other capsule, to three elementary school students, ages 10 and 12, on Wednesday, Feb. 9. The incident reportedly occurred on a school bus. According to Kisselburg, the student told the others the pills "would make them see things and feel funny." All three pills were confiscated and sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab for testing. The student has been arraigned and has his next appearance in court set for April 4. Ritalin is a drug prescribed for children diagnosed with forms of attention deficit disorder. NO HIT, NO RUN A 44-year-old Hope man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief after attempting to run another Hope man down at the Eagle's Nest in Emmet. According to Sheriff's reports, on Feb. 10, Larry Lollis tried to run over Dartelli Knight, 30, with his vehicle, because Knight was with Lollis's ex-wife. The two first got into a verbal altercation, with Lollis then trying to run over Knight. Instead, he caused damage to the convenience store, almost running through the front door of the building.
