Golden OldiesDoris VancePublished Wednesday, February 23, 2000 in the Gurdon Times Our Valentine King and Queen for 2000 are Joe Welch and Birdie Quarles. Our runners- up are Doug and Joyce Quillen, and J.W. and Reva Wingfield. Voting for the king and queen raised over $800 for the center. The seniors dined at Bowen's Tuesday evening of last week. Allen Wimberly and his wife played piano and sang for the seniors on Wednesday of last week. We appreciate them and all others who donate their time to activities for the seniors and the center. The monthly birthdays will be honored on Tues., Feb. 23. They are Esther Thrasher, Clarence Haltom, Louise Thomerson, Art Cooper, James Trout, Constelola Lancaster, Faye Tucker, Gloria Bennett, Charles Shaver, Bernice Freemam, Emma Herron, S.J. Manson, Mildred Fergerson and Doris Vance. Our homebound who have birthdays are Walter Sligh, Eve Perry and Bernice Gentle. Lloyd Baumgardner will sing on Wed., Feb. 23. We have other activities for the remainder of the week. Dr. Barbara Holt will be at the center for Nutrition Week Feb. 29 through March 3.
