Gurdon Primary School's open house will be Sunday, February 27, from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. The community is encouraged to attend.

Gurdon Primary cafeteria will have a dinner of turkey and dressing dinner or a choice of stuffed crust pizza on Sunday from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Take or dine in, tickets are available now at the primary cafeteria or at the door for $6.

Joshua Lane Moore was born Sunday, January 23, 2000. He weighed 8 pounds and 4+ ounces. Joshua is welcomed home by parents, Robbie and Patricia Moore and big sister, Olivia. Proud grandparents are Troy and Mary Ricketts of Gurdon and Joyce Long of Arkadelphia. Great grandmothers are Ruthie Mae Stroud of Gurdon and Katie Moore of Minden, La.

A revival begins Sun., Feb. 27, at First Assembly of God in Gurdon. It will continue through Wednesday with Rev. Leland Burkett and family. Services Sunday are 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Rev. Dale Lantz, pastor, invites the community to attend.

David Goodson of the Farm Service Agency reminds agriculture producers of the deadline to apply for benefits under the Crop Disaster Program. Crops covered for 1999 losses due to drought include row crops as well as hay and fruits and vegetables.

On February 27 at 6:00 p.m., Mt. Canaan Baptist Church will hold a pre-anniversary musical gala. Everyone is invited for this celebration of 15 years.

During their pastor's illness, the Oak Grove Church will be holding services on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon with Wayne and Tommy Easley, evangelists.

The seventh annual Sawmill Days Festival will be Sat., April 22, in downtown Sparkman. Crafters, vendors and entertainers are needed. The pageant will be Sat., April 8, with eight age divisions. The annual pastoral anniversary of Rev. Johnny C. Harris and family will be Sunday, Mar. 5, at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. The church will have pre-anniversary musical gala on Feb. 27 to begin the celebration of his 14 years at Mt. Canaan.

Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will be holding sessions in Gurdon on Feb. 24 at the Gurdon Municipal Building from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. For information call 353-2514.

The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather.

Gurdon Lions Club is now able to begin collecting old eye glasses. The collection point in Gurdon is First Baptist Church or you can call Charles Shaver at 353-4640.

Old glasses are recycled by Lions International.

Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
