Nominations are being sought for Teacher and Citizen of the Year for the annual Gurdon Chamber of Commerce Banquet.

The banquet is scheduled for Monday, March 13 at 7 p.m. at the Gurdon High School cafeteria.

Tickets to the event are $12.50 each and can be purchased at the First State Bank of Gurdon, Mercantile Bank, or the Arkadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

One of the highlights of the banquet annually is the naming of the Citizen of the Year.

Those wishing to make a nomination must submit a letter detailing why the person they name should be recognized by the community.

The award is presented to citizens who have enhanced the quality of life in Gurdon through their commitment and contributions to the city.

Nominations must be mailed to the Chamber at P.O. Box 187, Gurdon, AR 71743.

Deadline for making a nomination is Friday, Feb. 25.

Another highlight is the naming of the Teacher of the Year.

Again, anyone wishing to make a nomination must do so in writing, telling why they feel an instructor deserves the honor.

Students are also encouraged to write letters in support of their favorite teachers.

Nominations for Teacher of the Year should be mailed to the Chamber at P.O. Box 187, Gurdon, AR 71743.

For more information about either the Teacher or Citizen of the Year or the banquet, call 353-2661.
