Jonquil Festival Is SoonPublished Wednesday, February 16, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneOld Washington Historic State Park begins final preparations for the 32nd annual Jonquil Festival, which will be held March 3, 4 and 5. The event will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. Walking around the historic village of Washington, visitors will be inspired to turn their thoughts toward the warm days of spring and summer as thousands of bright yellow jonquils once again herald the change of the seasons. Over 150 crafters from a several-state area will offer for sale a wide variety of products such as potpourri, woodwork, leather goods, wreaths, baskets, quilts and much more. Musical entertainment will be continuous during the three-day period ranging from bluegrass and country and western to eastern Indian. The blacksmith shop, print museum, weapons museum, candle shop and an historic home will be available for touring with guides at these sites to greet the visitor. Tour tickets may be purchased at the parks Visitor Information Center located in the Mercantile at the Tavern Inn. Williams' Tavern Restaurant will be open daily with a menu consisting of excellent home-style cooking at a modest price. No reservations will be accepted during the three-day event. Visitors may also choose from the large number of food concessions which will be set up around the town. Old Washington is located nine miles northwest of Hope, on Highway 278.
