Design Constest Underway For Chicken And Egg Festival

It's hard to believe, but the 13th Annual Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Chicken and Egg Festival is just around the corner.

In fact, Mary Godwin, executive director of the Chamber, said the third annual T-shirt design contest is now open and underway.

Those planning to enter have some time, as the deadline isn't until Friday, March 3.

Godwin said the designs must follow a basic pattern. First, they must include the year (2000); Prescott, Arkansas; and 13th Annual Chicken and Egg Festival.

The designs can use up to three colors and should be done on an 8 by 10 format or larger.

However, she said, the entries must be done by hand and cannot be computer generated. The idea of the design contest is to show off the local artists' talent.

The designs will be judged by out of town judges, who reserve the right to disqualify any entry they deem inappropriate.

The winner, though, will take home a cool $50 cash.

Following the naming of the winner, the Chamber will pick a color for the shirt.

Godwin said this year's festival has been scheduled for the first Friday and Saturday in June, or June 2-3.

Entries can be either mailed to the Chamber or dropped off at the Chamber office until March 3.

Godwin and the Chamber board have also been working on the annual Chamber Banquet.

This year's banquet will be hitched to a western theme at "Hitch Your Wagon To Our Rising Stars."

She said they are currently working to get the features speaker scheduled, so no firm date has been set for the festivities.

However, Godwin did say the banquet is expected to be in mid to late March.
