Misty Brown , a senior at Prescott High School, and Melissa Niemyer, a senior at Nevada High School, have been awarded an Academic Scholarship at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope.

The scholarships are based on an ACT score and grade point average plus a recommendation from a school official.

Brown is the daughter of Gary and Teresa Brown of Prescott. She will be pursuing an associate of arts in general education degree.

Niemyer is the daughter of Steve and Sherri Niemeyer of Prescott. She also will be pursuing an associate of arts in general education degree.

Brittany Collins of Harmony Grove High School has accepted an academic scholarship to University of Central Arkansas (UCA) in Conway beginning with the 1999 fall term.

UCA awards academic scholarships, renewable for four years, are based on ACT score and class rank as well as National Merit and National Achievement competition.

Collins will receive the University scholarship for tuition and fees.

She is the daughter of Don Collins of Prescott and Vicki Taylor of Camden.

She is a member of the honor roll, National Honor Society, Senior Beta Club, Who's Who Among American High School Students, Arkansas Scholars, Future Business Leaders of America, Future Farmers of America and cheerleaders. She has served as secretary of the Science Club and HGHS Student Council and was chosen Holiday Miss of Crossett 1998, America's Cover Miss of El Dorado 1998, Ouachita County Fair's Miss Personality 1998 and Miss Harmony Grove first runner-up in 1998.

Joey Nowlin, son of Bobby and Brenda Nowlin of Rosston, was recently cast as Stephen Spettigue in the University of Central Arkansas Theatre's production of Charley's Aunt by Brandon Thomas.

Charley's Aunt will be presented March 30, 31, April 1, 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. on Centre Stage of the Snow Fine Arts Center on the campus of UCA.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children and are free with a UCA I.D. Tickets go on sale Thursday, March 16. Reservations are highly encouraged and may be made by calling UCA theatre box office at 501-450-3165 beginning March 16.
