Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991. A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse Thursday, February 24, and Thursday, March 23. Supplemental security income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213. Blevins School will host a series of meetings to provide information about the upcoming school bond election scheduled for March 14. The meetings are each at 7 p.m. and at the following locations: February 3 at DeAnn Fire Department, February 24 at McCaskill Fire Department and March 2 in the Blevins School cafetorium. All Blevins School patrons are invited to attend. The February Chamber of Commerce coffee will be sponsored by Sisson Real Estate. It will be held on February 15 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the chamber office. Everyone is invited to attend. The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce is seeking ideas and items to put into the millennium time capsule. This box will be placed in the mini-park that is being developed on the former Sterling Store lot at the corner of Main and West First Streets. It will be buried in early summer. A diabetic education class based on healthy heart eating, 'Sodium and Cholesterol' will be offered Wednesday, February 9, at 2 p.m. at the Alliance Home Health, 300 East Second Street in Prescott. This is sponsored by Alliance Home Health, AllCare Pharmacy and Nevada County Cooperative Extension. The Nevada County Cooperative Extension Service is conducting a bull soundness evaluation (BSE) clinic on Monday, February 14, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Powell and Perry Veterinary Clinic in Hope. In addition to semen testing, bulls will be frame scored, de-wormed and deloused courtesy of Hempstead County Farm Store. The total charge for the clinic is $25 per bull. For additional information concerning this clinic contact the Extension office at 887- 2818. A great training opportunity to learn to teach an adult to read and to become a volunteer tutor will be held Friday, February 11, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, February 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Literacy Council Training Center, 600 Walnut in Texarkana. The Prescott FFA Alumni will hold its annual meeting Saturday, February 12, at 6 p.m. at Nevada County Fairgrounds. A meal of smoked beef, pork and chicken will be served with all the trimmings. This meeting will mark the beginning of the 2000 membership drive. Annual dues are $25. All members, guests, parents and any interested in the Prescott High School agri program are urged to attend. The McRae Middle School P.T.P. is taking orders for carnations to be delivered to the school on Valentine's Day, Monday, February 14. Order forms have been sent home with students and all order must be turned in by Thursday, February 10. Cost is $2 each.
