Rita Fountain, a senior studying business/marketing technology at Prescott High School, has been named a winner in the 1999-2000 Tools for Tomorrow All-American Vocational Student Awards (AAVSA) program.

Fountain will receive a personalized award certificate and a $100 gift certificate redeemable at any Coast to Coast, ServiStar or True Value Store. Fountain is one of more than 1,500 vocational students from across the country who was chosen to receive this honor.

Since its inception in 1992, Tools for Tomorrow has honored nearly 16,000 students with more than $1.85 million in scholarships and awards. This year, nearly $200,000 will be awarded to outstanding vocational technical students in local communities.

The All-American Vocational Student Awards recognize high school students who achieve standards of excellence in vocational and academic skills in their school programs and who exhibit leadership in their communities.

A nationally acclaimed program supporting vocational technical education, AAVSA is only one part of Tools for Tomorrow. In addition to recognizing students in the AAVSA, participating Coast to Coast, ServiStar and True Value retailers also provide discounts and donate materials to vocational students, offer internship opportunities, spearhead community service programs and sponsor SkillsUSA-VICA's annual National Skills Competition in Kansas City, Mo.

Fountain is the daughter of Brad and Rose Fountain of Prescott.
