Classy MomentsPublished Wednesday, February 9, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesDid you miss us? That unexpected amount of snow just kept us at home for a few days. We all agreed that it was the most beautiful snow that we had seen. My goodness, we heard so many different experiences enjoyed during the snow days. Many of our students have four-wheelers and they shared some of the exciting adventures they enjoyed driving in the snow. Several had a busy time getting their four-wheelers 'unstuck.' Although we were out of school for four days, it seems as though each and everyone enjoyed the time at home. Talk has already been discussed about how those days will be made up and we all have several ideas, but nothing official. A letter was written to Gov. Mike Huckabee requesting that he grant three days 'excused absentee days' for all of the schools in the state. Nothing ventured nothing gained. It would be nice if he agreed. The school-wide spelling bee has been completed and the winners are: fifth graders Dadrian Glenn, Colton McClure and Sydney Jester; sixth graders Allison Anderson, Dusty Craig and Tiffany Nolan; seventh graders Tory Burson, Ben Gooding and Haleigh McDaniel; and eighth graders Robyn LeMay, Michael Testa and Amanda Branson. We are really proud of these students and are looking forward to the county spelling bee. The Cabe Junior High cheerleaders attended the regionals competition held at Arkansas High School in Texarkana Saturday. The results will be given in next week's Times. We know that they did their best and we are so proud of their performances. These girls work long hard hours, even practice after school when other students are home enjoying free time. Many parents are aware of the extra time their child spends in different programs at school. A big thank you for all of your cooperation in helping to make those programs a success with the time that you spend making sure that your child is present at the time repaired for the program involved. Well, the time came again for a certain principal to officially be a year older than the redwood tree. A delicious potluck was given in his honor and a pounding of household goods were presented to him. All kidding aside, birthday greetings to Jeff Alexander, CMS principal. Mon., Feb. 14, at 10:00 a.m. the Cabe Student Council will present an assembly. You are always invited. Progress reports were given on Tuesday for the mid-nine weeks. It seems impossible it is that time already. Staying busy makes time fly and we certainly do stay busy at CMS making those Classy Moments.
