Jump Rope For Heart Is Planned By GPS StudentsPublished Wednesday, February 9, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesThe students of Gurdon Primary School are jumping at the chance to help fight heart disease and stroke, the nation's number one killer. Thursday, February 10, at 1:30 p.m. in the gym GPS will hold a Jump Rope for Heart event. Students will jump-rope to raise funds for the American Heart Association. These funds help support cardiovascular research and educational programs, such as HeartPower. Jump Rope for Heart teaches participants about the importance of a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity, proper nutrition and living tobacco-free. The event empowers children as they provide vital community service and discover that they can make a difference. At the same time, students enjoy group dynamics while jumping into the spirit of this fun filled event. You can help these children help others. When a student asks you to be a sponsor, make a one time donation of whatever you can afford to give. For more information, contact Coach Ed Reece or Melissa Franklin at 353-4321.
