Louise Hendrix

Louise Hendrix, 72, of Arkadelphia died Wednesday, January 26, 2000, at her home.

Mrs. Hendrix was born September 18, 1927, in Okolona to Lawson and Katie Green Beard. She was a retired nurse's assistant, a member of First Baptist Church of Okolona, a member of the AARP and a member of Eastern Star Lodge 387. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Hendrix, who died in 1996.

Survivors include, one daughter, Gloria Hendrix of Arkadelphia; two brothers, Aaron Beard of Kansas City, Mo., Lawson Beard Jr. of Ypsilanti, Mich.; one sister, Earnestine Hendrix of Blytheville; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 1, at First Baptist Church in Okolona. Graveside services were held Saturday, February 5, at Okolona First Baptist Cemetery in Okolona with Rev. Eddie Brown officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Conway L. Coon

Conway L. Coon, 89, of Arkadelphia died Thurs., Feb. 3, 2000, at the Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.

Mr. Coon was born June 20, 1910, in Clark County, the son of the late Lonzo Luther and Dosie Johnson Coon. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded by his first wife of 46 years, Effie Brown Coon, and one son, Jackie Joel Coon.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Coon; five sons, Clois Coon and wife Wilma of Blair, Nebr., Conrad Coon and wife Martha of North Little Rock, Donald Coon and wife Linda of Arkadelphia, Bill Coon and wife Wanda of Benton, Steve Coon and wife Wanda of Gurdon; a daughter-in-law, Donna Coon of Arkadelphia; two stepsons, Glynn Buchanan and wife Bobbie of Waco, Texas, and John R. Buchanan and wife Mary of Knoxville, Tenn.; three daughters, Joyce Quillin and husband Doug of Gurdon, Myrle Pierce and husband Boyd of Arkadelphia, Theresa Thornton and husband Gary of Bismarck; two step-daughters, Marilyn Howland of San Antonio, Texas, and Carolyn Buchanan of Little Rock; two sisters, Maggie Nolan of Gurdon and Trebia Eakin of Malvern; one step-sister, Etta Windham of Beirne; 32 grandchildren; 33 great- grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

Services were held Sat., Feb. 5, in the Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel in Arkadelphia with Rev. Charles Hargett and Rev. Garland Brackett officiating. Interment was in Easley Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church or the Easley Cemetery Fund.
