Changes To Be Made In Newly Annexed Area

Those senior citizens living in the newly annexed areas need to be aware of some changes.

Primarily, the changes will be in their garbage collection and billing.

Gurdon City Recorder/Treasurer Tambra Smith said those who are 62 years old or older, with two people in the household are eligible for a discount on their solid waste bill.

The normal rate for garbage pickup is $6.85 per month, but the discount drops this to $5.48 monthly.

Those meeting these qualifications should go to City Hall and fill out a simple form to get the discount.

Furthermore, Smith stated, those living in the annexed areas don't have to pay Clark County for picking up their garbage anymore. If they do, they will be double paying, she said.

In Gurdon, the solid waste bill is included with the water and sewer bill.
