Tri-Service

The Tri-Service Club met on January 21 at the home of Della Jordan. Chubby Guthrie was her co-hostess.

During the business meeting, president Babs Barnes called for reports from the various committee chairmen as to what had been accomplished by the club from September to the present time. The reports they made are as follows:

  • During Christmas, gifts were taken to both nursing homes for all the residents who do not have a family near by to care for them.
  • Also during Christmas, boxes of food were given to four families.
  • Fifteen coats have been donated to people who needed a winter wrap.
  • The Sally Foster wrapping paper sale was a big success. Proceeds from this project will be distributed in April to worthy causes.
  • In November, club members assisted the health department with a summit which was held at the high school. The purpose of the program was to try to prevent teenage pregnancy.
The members also assisted the health department in collecting and purchasing items which were used to prepare kits for high risk babies and their mothers. This program is called 'Maternal Child Health Home Visiting Program.'

Tri-Service Club sponsors and schedules plays for the Prescott and Nevada County Schools. Generous donations from civic clubs and businesses help make it possible to present the players, free of charge, to all students.

The plays are expertly performed by the Tell-A-Tale Troupe from the Arkansas Arts Center. In November, Beauty and the Beast was shown. In February, they will see African Folk Tales and in May, Chicken Little and the Little Red Hen.
