Powell To Retire From PotlatchPublished Wednesday, February 2, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayunePotlatch Corporation chairman and chief executive officer L. Pendleton Siegel has announced that Sandra T. Powell, the company's senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer, is retiring after 33 years. Siegel simultaneously announced that Michael W. DeGenring, 47, executive vice president, finance and administration, has been elected to the additional office of chief financial officer. DeGenring joined Potlatch in September of 1999 after 21 years with Atlantic Richfield Co., during which he held several senior financial and general management positions. Powell joined Potlatch as a tax accountant in 1967 and subsequently served as senior systems analyst and supervisor of operations at the company's data processing center and as manager of corporate accounting and budgeting. She served as secretary and assistant treasurer from 1981 to 1989 and treasurer from 1989 to 1993. She was elected vice president, financial services, effective in January 1993, and elected vice president, finance and chief financial officer in 1998. Siegel noted that Powell's varied interests and skills enabled her to provide versatile, long- term leadership as the company modernized its financial systems. "In her more than 30 years with Potlatch, she had been involved in virtually every aspect of our financial operation. We are very fortunate to have had someone with Sandy's combination of knowledge, talents and experience," he said.
