Ordinary Women With Extraordinary Expectations Are Discussed By WCG

Published Wednesday, June 16, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

The Women of the Church of God met June 8 at the home of Shirley Smithpeters. There were eight members in attendance. They were Thelma Mizell, Doris Vance, Eulah Wilson, Shirley Smithpeters, Vivian Spruill, Janet Toland, Velvet Gonzales and Jeannie Burchfield.

The title of the lesson was "Ordinary Women Extraordinary Expectations."

Some women shared stories of things they had planned for and then waited in expectation for the results.

Others shared about their expectations when they were saved and how these might have changed as they matured.

Some shared of knowing ordinary women with extraordinary expectations who have influenced their lives as Christians.

The ladies read about various ordinary women in the Bible who had extraordinary expectations, because of their display of faith. These scriptures were Matthew 9:20-21, Luke 1: 26-38, Luke 10: 38-42, Luke 21: 1-4, and 1 Peter 1: 3-9.

Linda Mason, National Coordinator of the WCG, wrote, "Our vision must exceed our grasp. Step forward into action. God will honor your obedience to His call and grant you the desires of your heart."

Following the lesson, the ladies shared a meal prepared by the hostess, Shirley Smithpeters.

The WCG will not meet in July or August. Monthly meetings will resume in September.
