Oilseed Program FundedPublished Wednesday, February 2, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesThe United States Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency has appropriated $475 million to fund the 1999 oilseed program. The program is available to producers who planted 1999 crop flaxseed, sunflowers, safflower, soybeans, rape seed, mustard seed, canola or crambre. The producer's payment will be based on the higher of the 1997 or 1998 planted acres. For new producers the 1999 planted acres will be used. The payments will be calculated at the higher of the county average or the farms actual yield. Producers who had oilseeds planted in 1997, 1998 or 1999, who did not certify those acres have until February 18 to submit an acreage report. You must provide both existence and disposition of the crop such as seed receipts and sales documents. Late filled fees will not be charged to late file for the oilseed program. David Goodson, county executive director of the Farm Service Agency announces that applications for the Dairy Market Loss Assistance (DMLA-II) Program will be taken through Feb. 28. Dairy producers who did not previously apply under the initial DMLA program shall apply during the sign-up period if the operation marketed milk commercially anytime during calendar years 1997 and 1998. Dairy producers or operators, who were new in calender year 1999 and not affiliated with other eligible producers, may receive payments under DMLA-II program, using their 1999 production. New dairy producers in calendar year 1999 are not required to have marketed milk commercially between October 1, 1998 and December 31, 1998. For additional information on DMLA-II or the 1999 oilseed program, contact the FSA office in Arkadelphia at 1030 Village Drive or call 870-246-9816 Extension 2.
