Fair Hills EHC

The Fair Hills Extension Homemakers Club met Monday, January 17, at the Nevada County Extension office.

The president, Glenda Stuart, called the meeting to order. Each member answered the roll by telling how she could be better organized.

The club collect was read by Nancy Smith. An inspirational thought was given by Lois McCain.

The minutes from last month and the treasurer's report were ready by Joyce Tyree.

There was some discussion about the upcoming blood drive that will be coming January 25.

Candace Carrie gave a very good and informative program on How to be Better Organized.'

Rose Garden Club

The Rose Garden Club met at First Baptist Church on January 18 at 1:30 p.m. Nettie Lemons and Ann Foster were co-hostesses.

Betty Turner, president, presided over the business meeting. The president announced that the State Flower Show will be held at the Convention Center in Little Rock February 25-27. Several members plan to attend.

Linda Goza, with Logoly State Park presented the program on Butterflies.' She stated that there are 140,000 species in the world with 10,000 species native to North America.

She shared much pertinent information, such as: butterflies rest with their wings spread out while moths rest with their wings up. She stated that butterflies need basically what humans needfood, shelter and space. She pointed out that they prefer flowering plants with single blooms and large flat flower heads on which to land and feed.

She handed out pamphlets with pictures showing those native to this vicinity. Her program was most informative.

The hostesses served a delicious dessert to the 13 members and 1 guest present before the meeting was adjourned.
