Entries Are Sought

Entries are being accepted for the 39th annual Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition, on display April 21-May 29 at Arkansas Arts Center, Ninth and Commerce, MacArthur Park in Little Rock.

Deadline for entries is March 6.

Students in kindergarten through grade 12 in Arkansas schools are eligible. Students should contact their teachers for more information.

Schoolsnot individual students or parentsmust submit entries.

One hundred fifty works will be selected for the exhibition with 10 to 12 pieces chosen from each grade by Arkansas art teachers who are members of the National Art Education Association. Sixty of the accepted works will be selected by Arts Center curatorial staff and circulate across the state as a part of the Arts Center's traveling exhibition program.

From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 30, the Arts Center will host an open house for student participants, parents and teachers.

In 1961, the Arts Center hosted its first children's art exhibition, and merged with the State Department of Education in 1983. Today, the exhibition continues to reward the creative achievement of Arkansas' youth with this major exhibition in the galleries of the Arts Center.
