Classy MomentsPublished Wednesday, January 26, 2000 in the Gurdon Times"Smile for the birdie," "say cheese," were many of the phrases that several students heard Thursday morning. Group pictures were being taken to be placed in the yearbook for Cabe Middle School (CMS). We only hope that no one was missed. You might think that having a picture taken would be an easy task, well it can be a big job. Just trying to make sure the students are in the correct group to be identified correctly. Although it caused a disruption of classes, the reward will be enjoyed later when the CMS Yearbooks are in the hands of those who made purchases of the great memory book. The CMS Yearbook is sponsored by the Student Council and they are busy getting everything together in order to make the book one that will be enjoyed for years to come. The yearbook staff requests that the students bring a baby picture taken between their birth and first grade age. Plans are to have pages of past and present. Regretfully, pictures cannot be returned to the student, as they are to be sent to the publisher of the book. Picture requests also includes faculty and staff. If you would like to purchase a yearbook, send a check made payable to CMS for the amount of $15 and send to Mrs. Clingan at Cabe Middle School. Books will be available two weeks before school is out, allowing students the opportunity to have friends sign their books. The spelling bee started Tuesday with the sixth grade, and competition will be completed Thursday. On February 2 CMS school-wide spelling bee, which includes fourth grade, will take place. The 25th of February the Clark County spelling bee will be conducted. Location will be announced later. We are very proud of the students who are involved in this challenge. The old virus bug is still making its round here, and we are certainly ready for it to move on out of way. We have enjoyed the cooler weather, although several seem to forget to wear a jacket. Thanks to you for being there for us as we continue to make those Classy Moments for CMS. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
