Cheerleaders To Compete

Published Wednesday, January 12, 2000 in the Gurdon Times

The Gurdon Senior High cheerleaders will be competing in the Arkansas Cheerleading Association's regional competition.

This annual event will be held Saturday, February 5, in Texarkana at Arkansas High School at 12:00 noon.

Cheerleader mothers and other supporters can find the site by turning East on Jefferson Boulevard after exiting off Interstate 30.

The squad will compete against cheerleading squads in the Southern Region Division for first, second and the prestigious Award of Excellence, which qualifies a squad for state competition.

The ACCA state finals will be held at the University of Central Arkansas in the Farris Center in Conway Saturday, February 12.

This squad will also compete for the academic award, which is figured on the 1999 fall semester grades based on the 4.0 scale.

Everyone in the district is very proud of the 3.32 average of this year's senior high squad. The cheerleaders hope that you will be in Texarkana to cheer them on to state. Everyone is invited and encouraged to come.
