Classy MomentsPublished Wednesday, January 12, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesWe have just completed the first week of the third nine weeks of this school year. It was difficult for several of the students to return to school and be able to stay awake, so many had said they had been staying up late at night while out for the holidays and then had to get up early to go to school. It was hard to not feel sorry for the little sleepy heads. It was good to see the students back. They were anxious to share the lists of gifts they received for Christmas. It seems as though Santa was very good to the Cabe Middle School students. We were all so excited to see Mrs. Davies back with us. She had been greatly missed. A big thank you to Mrs. Barbaree for the great job she did while substituting for Mrs. Davies. Also, a big thanks to her for those fresh, hot doughnuts. Mrs. Whitlock's class brought the most food items for the food drive before Christmas. The class will be treated with a surprise provided by the CMS Student Council. Great job. It was such a rewarding feeling to know that our students were able to help three families have an extra special Christmas. The seventh and eighth graders have been very busy trying to get schedules changed. Decisions are made, and then made again. I would think that Mr. Alexander is glad that schedule change is over, as he was very busy trying to meet the requests of the students. Haleigh McDaniel, a seventh grader, seems to be doing extremely well with her broken finger. Although, the uncomfortable looking support is doing the job of helping to mend the break, it has to cause disadvantages for Haleigh. But she smiles and does the best she can. Haleigh, next time be careful of that basketball. We will be out of school Monday, Jan. 17, so be sure to mark it on your new calendar. Hopefully each of you had a wonderful holiday and are back to your regular schedule. We will continue to stay busy making those Classy Moments at CMS.
