Two Arrested For Gurdon ALS Break-InBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, January 12, 2000 in the Gurdon Times Two people were recently arrested in connection with the break in at Gurdon's Alternative Learning School. According to Gurdon City Marshal David Childres, the incident occurred the weekend of Dec. 10, 1999, where a color television, microwave oven, some computers and a vacuum cleaner were taken. The TV and microwave, Childres said, have been recovered. The suspects arrested in the case were, at the time, being sought for parole violation. One was a Clarisa Russey, from Gurdon, who was on parole for commercial burglary and theft of property. The second suspect is Steven Knox, who was on parole for the same charges as Russey. Both suspects are currently being held in the Clark County Jail, with other arrests expected, Childres said. "I believe those two arrests will help stop the recent outbreak of thefts we've had recently," he said. "All of the items were sold to help buy drugs," Childres continued. "We didn't have many thefts until those two got out of the pen and started their old habits again." Russey left a drug rehabilitation center in Camden without permission and has been wanted for parole violation for about three months, he added. Knox has been out of prison about two months and failed to report to his parole officer as ordered by the court. He had been sent to the Arkansas Department of Correction for robbing the Jif-E-Mart on Highway 67, in Gurdon. Knox and Russey are being held without bail at this time.
