CaneyRuby WickerPublished Wednesday, January 5, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Hellos to all the folks who read the Picayune. Mr. Influenza is still visiting here and about in our community. He is so popular; he's made several appearances on television. He visited Bro. Tal Webb last week. He was staying over the weekend with Krista and the girls. Hope they are all feeling better. Others he visited through the week were Susanne Cross, and Mike, Shirla and Michael Brown. The senior adult Sunday school class of Morris Baptist Church met in the home of Lucy Glass Monday for an after-Christmas party. Supper was potluck. Gifts were exchanged. There were 12 members present and we had such a good time, we decided we should do it more often. Liz Munn and her family of Hope, Barb Cornelius and family from Nubbin Hill, Deb Jackson and family, Pam Cleveland and family, Pat McCullough and family, Tracy and Marsha Bennett had lunch with J.W. and Maxine Glass Sunday after church. There is more good news this week. Traci and Chris Hicks had their baby. Their son weighed a little over five pounds. They were rushed to a Little Rock hospital in the wee hours of the morning with the help of one of their neighbors, Bean Rhodes. Chris is still suffering a disability from his fall, but we're all praying for his full recovery. Bob and Carolyn Hicvks visited them at the hospital on Sunday. Needless to say, they were on 'cloud nine' with their first grandchild. Others busy making trips to Little Rock for hospitalization last week were Heather and Cannon Callicott. Heather rushed her grandfather, Johnnie Shewbirt up on Saturday. He has several problems, but was resting when they left him. Our community was also saddened over the weekend by the death of Vada Glass Mathis, who lives down the road at Cale. She passed away Saturday night. Margie Reed and I visited Dale and Ethel Ellis in Sutton Sunday afternoon. Ethel has also been sick. I hope your neighbors will give your community reporter your news now that the Picayune has a web site. Several people who were former residents of this area have picked it up and really enjoy the privilege of catching up on old neighbors.
