Christmas Dinner Held

Published Wednesday, January 5, 2000 in the Gurdon Times

The Women of the Church of God were treated to an elegant Christmas dinner on Thursday, December 16, in the church fellowship hall. The meal was prepared and served by Bob and Jeannie Burchfield.

There were 12 women in attendance. They were Thelma Mizell, Doris Vance, Ollie Purifoy, Eulah Wilson, Doris Eubanks, Rebekah Bell, Shirley Smithpeters, Janet Toland, Velvet Gonzales, Jamie Rhodes, Dena Vance and Jeannie Burchfield .

Before dinner the ladies enjoyed hearing the children's story, The Polar Express. The story tells of how a child must have faith in Santa in order to hear his sleigh bells.

In the same way, the ladies were reminded of the child-like faith one must have when walking with God. Each one was encouraged to share the greatest gift of Christmas with others, the free gift of Jesus's love.

Following dinner ,the ladies worked on crafts. They made snowmen from socks.
