In December, 87 students at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia completed course requirements to receive their degrees in May. Of those graduates, 10 graduated with honors. Students attaining a grade point of 3.5-3.74 will graduate cum laude, students who earn a GPA of 3.75-3.89, will graduate magna cum laude, and students who earn a GPA of 3.90-4.00 will graduate summa cum laude, the highest honor given.

Willie Heath Miller of Prescott, with a BSE degree in health, kinesiology and recreation, will be one of the graduates.


Kelly Harvey, the daugher of Jackie Harvey and Cathy Andrews of Prescott, has been awarded the Follett Scholarship at Henderson State University for the spring 2000 semester.

This award is given to two students majoring in education. The nominees are chosen by department faculty members, the department chair and the dean of education.

Harvey is a senior at Henderson State University. She will graduate in December 2000 with a degree in elementary education, specializing in history and special education.

She was also named to the dean's list in December. This honor is given to students who obtain a 4.00 GPA for the previous semester.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert O. Russell, Mrs. Frances Harvey and the late James Harvey, all of Prescott.
